So....I visited the Old Cranbury Road spa the other day. First time there and had an absolute stunner of A visit! Thank God because it was the highlight of my day! Immediately after I left the house, the day went SOUTH! Let me explain.
It was great to see Mama Sophia again after so many years! When I pulled up to the spa and turned off my truck,I happened to notice some wording on my dash.....something like "low battery...fob not detected. I thought okay, I am going to have to replace the battery in the fob. Well, upon trying to start the truck......um....nada. It wasn't starting. In fact,it seemed like a dead battery. Oh shit! Of all places for my vehicle to quit on me.
Now, I have mentioned on here that my wife is fully aware of my mongering and is cool with it. At times, she has even suggested that I..." Need a visit" in effect tellng me I need to go get some Asian lovin. So...called her up to let her know what was going down. Told her that I was going to call my local towing guy to come pick me up and tow the truck back to my home.
Tow guy says did you check the battery in the fob, it could be dead. Even if it was, I was nowhere near anywhere to get a new one. Plus, when he asked where I was, and I told him around forty minutes away, he sort of sighed, implying his displeasure of tge distance. I told him okay, I would call home to figure out how to maybe get the second fob to me since that has set in a drawer and was never used.
Having my wife bring me the other fob was very risky. She doesn't have a license for another four or five years. We will let that lay there peacefully. Well, she decides that "she can do this." Man, this had ugly written all over it. She had to use her phone as her GPS......she's nervous as hell driving to begin with and the GPS is giving her trouble. At one point she is almost crying during one of about seven phone calls before she finally finds her way to the spa.
Talk about awkward...my wife is rescuing me from a spa location! I called Sophia inside to tell her what was happening to alleviate any concerns of hers. Meanwhile, while my wife is on her way, one o two patrons arrive and leave. My wife arrives, gives me the fob and lo and behold, that one doesnt work either. Now, I have to get a flatbed. Calling this place and that....while doing that, a patron exits the spa with my wife sitting in her car....at least thankful that she made it there with no problem. The monger actually asks if he can help but I explain the situation and thank him for the offer.
Had to wait an hour for the flatbed to show up. Did make it home...but it cost me $475 for the freaking tow! Replaced the batteries in the two fobs.....nope, that wasn't it. Now I have to get another tow to my local Toyota and then pay for whatever needs fixing. Hopefully its jyst the battery. Who knows, but more dough will be involved!
I'm not bitter. I'm not actually complaining. I have learned to just smile and jump the hurdle and move on with life. Just thought that I would convey this little nightmare to show how fate got me good at the worst possible place. Thats life I guess.

Had a similar experience, I lost the key fob while visiting a provider, had a tow truck tow my car to my place and go to the dealer to get a replacement the next day, I used the first tow from my dealer (free of charge) and the second from my insurance service, 2 weeks after I received a call from Mamasan to inform me that she found my keys inside the bedroom under the heater.

Amazingly enough, I also had a totally unexpected mechanical, an alternator failure at the same spa last year. It happened when I left the house, soon after making the right turn onto the road, smoke started coming out from under the hood, I had enough power to make it to the corner Exxon gas station up the road, the garage guys there took care of me, got to work immediately and in about 3 hours I had a new alternator and battery. Just in case, you never know, I highly recommend them. "Solution Workshop" 609-358-9679. they do towing too, 24 hrs.

Worse yet is when it hits you upon leaving that you locked your keys in your truck. Guess what, phone is in truck too. Sit outside the pizza shop and ask the dude walking in if I can use his phone. Hour delay, but they got inside.

Everyone should keep an emergency charger in the car. Better than a set of jumper cables.
BTW if your FOB battery ever dies, just hold it next to the start button. There's a small proximity charge, just enough for the sensor to register.
There is always a slot somewhere to put the fob in if it goes dead.
Sometimes it’s in the center console.
Look it up online or owners manual.

It's a good idea to keep an extra key fob battery in your car and a small screwdriver to pop it open. These batteries are only about $6 at cvs or can even sometimes find at the dollar store....the car dealer will charge waaaayyyy more to change it. Obviously it wasn't the actual problem in Johnny's case, but it may help in the future.

So...to show her I love her and sincerely appreciate what she forced herself to do Thursday...I am taking her to lunch tomorrow. That will be after my visit back to Old Cranbury Road to re-aquaint myself with Jennifer, who I enjoyed many a session with back in the Green Leaves days. She was looking great the other day. Hope to sample the talents of Lucy next week.
