The auto insurance companies are collecting the premiums and they have very little outlays. If they were nice, they would absolutely give some money back to the customers, chances are they will not. Makes me want to look for a good pure play on car insurance company.

Hope everyone had a good week. We are definitely in a no mans land at this point and will be finding out if there is another leg down, leg up or just a period of heavy volatility but little overall change in the market for the next two weeks.
I get to take a walk and have access to a view of a major highway. I am noticing a slow but steady increase in traffic on this highway every week. I know this country is doing the best that it can during this shutdown, but I also know that this country is full of energetic, productive, excited people who want more of life than sitting around and waiting for the grim reaper to knock on the door.
I doubt very much these people are going to hospitals, I think the animal spirit is churning in our society and we are ready to get out and start living. Watch what is happening in your area. Drive by the strip malls and see if the owners and some of the workers are going in to prep for their openings. You/me and everyone else is going to be able to see something amazing over the course of the next few weeks and few months. We are going to see an entire nation that was shut down and locked up get back out their and start businesses up again. Are they going to do this in a half ass fashion, or are they going to kick, scream and fight for every customer they can get their hands on?
I am betting on the american will to fight, work, achieve, prosper.

Hmmm....Not a geek, but not totally computer illiterate ether. Isn't a PDP-11 a mini? Usually the mainframes had the card readers to do the heavy duty batch processing. They probably did sell card readers for the PDP-11, those computers typically supported dedicated users accessing via terminals.
Also, why would a Mech Eng ever touch COBOL? Did you go over to the Dark Side?

I cried at the potential that DEC had and just threw away.
They worked with Xerox and Intel to come up with the first industry standard 10MB Ethernet systems. They owned that market in the corporate world and they wasted all their resources trying to compete with IBM on the high end computers when the smaller businesses we all going into a networked environment.
They also had a head start on the low power RISC environment, The Strong ARM (ARM Holdings Inc)
They had the ground floor in on PDA/cell phone and internet interface and they failed. DEC is the shining example of a great and horrible business company.
I guess a 30 year life is not bad in the corporate world, but I did see a shining start of a company completely fail before my eyes.
