Good idea or bad idea?

Keep in mind that I'm still new at this. Have had around a dozen massages, a few TS, but nothing near FS.

So last fall after one of my massages went into overtime, there was some mutual massaging, and I tipped graciously! She expressed lots of gratitude and clearly wanted repeat business, but language was a serious barrier, so she showed me her messaging app on her phone and indicated that she wanted to connect with me. I was too cautious to actually connect with her and divulge my ID....so I nodded kindly, but I just let it go and never did anything.

Now, I'm kinda wishing I would have kept that info and started a conversation....it would be helpful during this COVID time, thinking maybe they would open for private appointments only for customers they know?

So the question is...

Is sharing your identify/contact info via a texting platform a good idea or bad idea?

Your thoughts?

Is there a common texting app used by providers?

As Star_light says, TRUST (yes, in captial letters) your instincts! How long/well to you know the provider? Was this your first time with her? You did say that language was an issue, but did you have any conversation with her? Any indication whether she actually trusted you and wanted to see you again, or was it your generosity. Your call (just some things to think about).

Wayne's app recos are spot on.

One important feature of Wechat (which Kakao may also have) is the ability to click to translate the texts that you receive. This is a reason some Chinese providers like to communicate with Wechat. The translation is poor, but it helps reduce the language gap a little.

Thanks for the thoughts. I guess my instincts said no at the time, so I will trust that was wise. :)

It was a newer provider at a trusted place...but she probably just liked my tip and wanted to keep me coming back. Hard to say...

I'm guessing you've heard of burner phones - I doubt you signed up for this account with your work or personal email. In theory, you should be able to give her your burner phone number, or texting ID depending on the phone model. (I'm single, so no major problems with 2 phones.)

In practice, I've had some issues with WeChat - I sgined up, didn't use it for a while and can't reactivate it. This is on my regular Android phone (for some regular Chinese, not massage providers).

I use both wechat and kakaotalk and I share my identity with the girls that way. And I’m happy to text with them. And get their funny chinese comedy videos and seasonal greetings etc. I wouldnt use Facebook for obvious reasons. Most girls don’t use it anyway. There’s nothing sinister going on with these girls so I wouldn’t be too worried. However, I wouldn’t send any messages that I would not want read in court. Like prices or services.

Some of the girls use facebook. If you're texting them, make sure your facebook settings doesn't allow people to find you by your phone number. Facebook defaults to allow you to be found this way. My ATF found me on facebook that way. In my case it isn't a problem, but I imagine for some other guys it can be very bad.

Create a 2nd profile with no pix on FB for these activities. Also, the burner phone is nice but can sometimes cause questions. A safer method for we chat/kakoa accts is an old phone, not connected and costing $$, using WIFI only. Some of the AMP handlers have been known to text you if they have your # so if discretion is important, this could solve.
