I only text 2 numbers all week. 1 was a provider I text pretty often and this number. I got another text with the same nypd pic today from a 848 area code. Again, I dont know what to make of it but im going to err on the side of caution.

You can rest assured you did NOT get a text from NYPD that’s just not how they do business.

However your caution is justified because it’s either a spammer or scammer

I've seen that article before. And yeah im aware how it works. I saw this particular ad and sent a text and as i said, later got those msgs. Maybe it was a sting maybe it wasnt but im not gonna show up to find out.
Wasn’t because of the number you detailed. Review your history and choose wisely.

If the nypost writes it citing “a source” it has to be true, no other way right?
occam's razor
this is more likely than the Post actively promoting some scammer, which if thats the case, what's the scam? People here have reported getting these texts and nothing came of it, its not like people are being bribed. That or NYPD is taking some scammer's work and claiming it as their own. Yeah, those are totally more believable, lol.

Nah, its totally some dipshit or bot at vice that sends these out whenever some john solicits one of their numbers. Its meant to discourage people from using those specific websites and shit, nothing more nothing less.

Actually got her on the phone last week. Sounded Russian. She texted me rates, which were normal for area. Figured it was a bait and switch and haven't done anything. No texts from LE or a bot claiming to be LE.
