That's interesting, thanks for sharing. Been here several times and always worried I'd run into someone but never have.... not yet at least. They must know something though, hopefully the super is paid off.

This has been happening at this location before it ever became 1010, I'm talking about at least 10 years ago when it was Hiyako spa. You can honestly blame idiotic dudes who would hit the wrong buzzer ALL the time or knock on the wrong door. If you take notice of the side where the elevator is at is now blocked off, but back in the day it's because you had guys always going on that side and knocking on the wrong door which is some kinda fitness studio.

Hold on, WTF, this was one of Hiyako's locations? I mean, Hiyako had a bunch of locations, but I went there a lot (with no end of mixed experiences), over quite a few years, and absolutely do not remember them over there. "Take a short trip to Asia."

Cheri, you starting to piss me off! Anything I say you can take to the damn bank!

This was indeed Hiyako's last location. The one before that was some temporary shithole that was on 8th ave. I remember when Kim verified me to 1010 I had a nagging feeling about something but the sec I put my hand on the doorknob I knew it was like coming home. Kinda like walking into the original Yankee Stadium. Certain places should be marked as amp landmarks, this location being one of them, the original PH up the block being the Yankee Stadium of NYC amps.

High foot traffic from unknown people insode an apartment building is another indicator. There used to be a fast house in my apartment building in the early 2000s when I was in HS and it was obvious like a sore thumb, it was on the opposite side of my floor. You know who lives in the building and who don't. A dude was running it inside my mother's friend's apartment during business hours when she was at work and while her daughter was away at college. It was a three bedroom apartment and the guy was the renter's cousin.

Can't imagine doing that in 2023 with Ring Doorbell and CCTV heavy. Theres a video all over social media where a lady recorded her next door neighbor and her clients from a Ring Doorbell.

Yeah, some places are just not built for this kind of thing. Some places can pull it off as AAMP's and others can't. Look, I know this is NYC and for the most part no one cares, but some guys have NO fuckin tact AT ALL. You don't know how many times I've been in a place and have heard some idiot come in drunk as shit or high, with a loud ass voice and drawing attention to himself. The worst are dudes who go in a group and act like a bunch of fuckin frat boys. I've gone with the boys to these places and we all go on mute the sec we hit the door, but once we get behind locked doors we can turn it back up. What kills some guys to just STFU for 10-20 secs? But yeah, now you know why this specific place has had issues for over a decade, not 1010's fault per se, blame the idiots from over a decade ago who established a distrust for this location.

No, no, of course you're cool. I absolutely remember that 8th Ave. shithole. Though, since I'm a massive perv, I kind of appreciated how awful it was. I must have missed the 1010 location, or gone just once or twice and forgotten.
Imagine this place with little Japanese style black and white sliding doors and it will trigger your memory. If you recall when it was Hiyako, the entrance that is used for 1010 was used as an exit by Hiyako. Look at the hallway and you'll see the original entrance.

This is always a possibility with spas that are in residential areas and in this case, a building. One of the reasons I do not go to Happy Ocean anymore. It draws too much attention.

I'm not going to blame the man and his wife for stopping you at the door. If you've lived in a building long enough, you know who lives there and the last thing you want is for people to just sneak in behind you.

I deal with this in my building often with delivery people or guests of my younger neighbors. I tell them they have to wait outside until the person they need to see comes down.

I wasn't trying to sneak up behind him. I literally just got to the door; which was closed, and was about to call mamasan so she can buzz me in, and the guy opened the door from inside and started questioning.
