Years ago, I called ahead before going to Chun but without enough cash for gratuity. MMS had me write my name and number on a paper tablet on a clipboard (that was already full of other mongers' contact information...total HIPAA violation). She did this because the (real) name on my credit card didn't match the (fake) name they obviously associated with my phone number from previous all cash-paid visits.
MMS also asked to see my ID. At the time, my assumption was that due to the name discrepancy, she was more concerned that the credit card was stolen more than I was not a repeat customer.
MMS was a little put off because it was clear that I hadn't revealed my true identity until then. Can't blame her, really. All the providers and management operate without assumed names, right?
Anyway, not sure if they've incorporated any higher tech systems since for those not using the online check-in.
