Center City Cheese Steak

I’m planning to be in vicinity of Race St. this week and looking to get a bite to eat after my business. Can anyone recommend a good place to get a cheesesteak within walking distance? I know Reading Terminal is close but I’m open to other recommendations as well.

Depends what you consider a shot walk. “Oh Brother’s” French onion cheesesteak is amazing.

There are no Chinese cheese steak shops in Chinatown, lol. Reading terminal is your best bet.

On a friend's rec, I walked to Campo's the last time I was in Center City (I stayed near the Hard Rock Cafe).
It was good, but smaller than I thought. I could have easily had 3 of them.
I went to "Big Ass Slice" afterwards...I asked for the "Half Ass" slice.

This was after walking from my hotel to way past the Gerard Ave Bridge on the river walk.
Then all the way back to where Campo's is located on Market Street.
So I was pretty hungry.
But still...the sandwich was smaller than what I always pictured a real Philly cheesesteak should be.

I was warned off Geno's & Pat's, so I stayed away.

The street kiosks are not bad. I prefer them actually. There's one near 8th and Arch right near penn dot.

Best in Philly, Roxborough has two great places on Henry Ave., Dalessandro's and Chubbies. I live about a mile away, they are directly across the street from each other. Much better than Pat's and Gino's.

I’ve had Delassandro’s before and they are delicious.

Dalessandros is overrated

They are a little bit and they have become very busy with long lines waiting outside for takeout. I actually like Chubbies better, besides Chubbies has bigger selection of different hot peppers.

I did not know that, I will hit Chubbies next time I'm out that way.

Imagine being the owner of Chubbies and looking at those crazy lines of people, across the street, all day every day. I’ll hit them up next time instead of D’s - hell if they’re better it’ll save me a ton of time.
