Remodeling is shorthand for the city giving these places grief. Too much attention/activity so they send in inspectors to find building code violations.
They did this to Akio about 2 years ago. Nearly a month before the reopened.

They are also checking to make sure the girls aren't wearing anything "sexy" and issuing violations.

Or it could just be a coincidence and I'm just another internet conspiracy theorist. Who the fuck knows

Yup I remember Akio. If y’all were wondering why Akio doesn’t have their walls all the way to the ceiling, it’s because of this incident.
