My DC allows me to turn it off so it won't record whenever I am taking a trip. The downside to this is that it defeats the purpose of having a DC if I were to get into an accident.

i don't understand the need for one of these, unless you drive for a living.

I was sideswiped last year. Other driver lied and said it was my fault. The police report agreed with my side of the story. And guess what? I still havent been able to collect my deductible. If the other driver lies their insurance may agree with thier side of the story and drag the case through arbitration. A 50 dollar camera could have saved me $500.
