Scam hang up - anyone of any importance either sends you a letter federal or state , or comes to your door police , the mob, everything else is bullshit
Definitely BS but how they know when you’re in area makes me curious. Gave me pause when I drove past and got the all a minute later.

Yeah, I searched the number too, right after I got the call. As you probably saw, that # comes up for a number of different places. Thanks for the info

The man that called told me he was a cop. Gave a name and a badge #.. said they got my # from a girls phone. He knew I had texted or called this girl at a certain time.
He also said they linked it to a site as well. listcrawler.
I didn’t meet or say anything salacious, in text or call. I only asked any girl that day if they were taking appointments and what the donation was.
Alana possibly and she works with a partner. I had no other contact.

I was moving and wasn’t using any public WiFi. Settings set so it will only connect to previous used WiFi. My Bluetooth is always off also. Thanks

Clearly the guy is in on this with the girl . Next time mark down the badge number , the precinct he works out of and the number he called from . The number he is using is linked to another number probably hers . Then call the precinct and ask if they have a badge and person matching - if not report it as impersonating a police officer

I’m also confused - so he called you and made an accusation and what? Said he’s going to meet you after school? WTF did he threaten you with arrest? Ask for money ? What was the purpose of the call? Sounds like some scam - remember in a scam they want to keep you talking - hang up

No no no no. Do not call the precinct. Never call the scammers back. Just hang up.

Calling the number back, when it’s 99% spoofed (the number he is calling from isn’t the same number displayed), will just get you into more trouble. Especially since the number really is part of the Bronx Court system. The badge number will also be faked, so that’s useless info.

Still wondering how someone can snag your number from WiFi though.

I was almost scammed like this once. You see an ad from a fine young thang and you send the provider a text or a phone call. A few days later you get a call from someone pretending to be LE saying the girl was a minor and you violated some sex with minors law and to avoid prosecution / having your name publicized you need to send some money somewhere and maybe you'll get off with only a fine. In my case I was asked to send $900 to a court in the Dominican Republic. LOL. I hung up and the dude actually tried to call me back before I blocked him. That was the last I heard from him and that was over two years ago. Lesson learned - now I don't make cold calls or texts unless it's a referral or a write up from this site. Mostly email first contact if possible.

Hey there, I know this answer comes a bit late, but I wanted to chime in for anyone else who might have the same question. It's always a good idea to be cautious when receiving calls from unknown numbers claiming to be investigators or law enforcement. These types of scams are unfortunately common, and it's important to seek help and advice from experts if you're ever unsure about a situation. In this case, I would recommend reaching out to court martial lawyers for guidance. Better to be safe than sorry! By the way, I'm new on this forum so nice to meet you all!
