How would you know if they are trafficked or not? Many of them don't speak english well enough to say "help me, I don't want to be here" and the trafficked ones know if they say anything and get caught by their handlers that can be trouble for them and/or their family. Many of them don't have a choice. So many of those girls just keep their mouths shut, collect the money, and count off the days until their service is over and they are free (which is why sometimes these girls just disappear from the amps) and they can live a normal life and open up a nail salon or dry cleaners with the money they saved. But yeah, there is NO WAY you could tell if someone is trafficked or not.

correct. but we can find another job. Many of these girls, especially the ones basically dumped here off the plane, have no english skills and their world consists of the amp they work/live at and their immediate surroundings. WE can change jobs, go to school, improve ourselves. Some of these girls cannot.
I will say this....I know that a vast majority of the girls working at the amps that I have frequented over the many years I have hobbied take the train there from one of the boroughs in New York. They are unescorted and it seems pretty easy to "escape" from their bonds and "keepers" if they were really being held hostage and being forced to work the amps. If you ask me...this entire "forced prostitution" idea is way overblown. Not once in the over twenty years that I have enjoyed the girls at the amps has there even been a hint of a girl wanting to get out of town or escape from anywhere. I call major bullchit.
I think a good majority of these women really came here to America for a better life and then realized that it's not as easy living here and sending money back home as they thought it would be. Then they find out though thier channels about these AMPS and realized that they have no choice. Then they get addicted to the money and it's hard for them to leave the business. It's hard for me to believe that these girls intentions for coming to America was to become a prostitute. Let's be honest, it's guaranteed money to them because we'll never stop going to these Amps.
Having shoveled the proverbial Fecal matter against the tides as a young man I think today many people don't realize life isn't a soft warm blanket for everyone. Many of these ladies are used to getting their hands dirty and spending the 8 hour day doing things they didn't enjoy as have many of us. I recall the last job I had before going into the Army back in the 50s, although short-lived, was washing the dead guys at a hospital morgue, messy! The aspect of going into the Army looked darn good.
So is the stuff mentioned, they are doing work that they could never earn the same in a hundred lifetimes doing anything back home, is a huge driver for them to work hard and get that money to send home. The handlers and money laundering orgs take their vig, and the indentured servitude continues until a debt was paid (usually the price of travel, R+B, and the documents to make it all sort of legal-ish). Having hung out maybe too much with various AMP girls and MMS, is clear that this is the normal impetus for joining the profession.
In the end of the 1800s and early 1900s, millions, tens of millions, of men came to the US, alone without their families, to a place that spoke a different language and had different customs, and then lived in completely fucked up places and were beaten by every authority figure in a ten mile radius and enslaved in super dangerous turn of the century jobs like "jack man" or "fuse boy", only to send ten bucks a month home to their family with hopes that one day there would be enough to send for them to make the trip here. Universe is much tougher and more complex than most Americans can ever dream. I've been to countries where 100% a hundred dollar bill would make you king daddy of that town for a few months.
In a country of immense riches and freedoms and opportunity and "equity", is basically impossible for Americans to comprehend the lengths that people in other places have to go just to get a drink of water that won't kill them or to string together a few days of eating. So, for these ladies to find an opportunity to do in a month what might take an entire town a hundred years to do, I give them all the credit in the world for making the long dangerous journey with dangerous people in charge and then doing the nasty shit we pay them to do. Most Americans wouldn't last ten minutes in 90% of the world's territory. That these ladies last so many years and every time I see them they have a huge smile and a hug for me and a kiss, is a testament to literally how powerful they are inside their own minds and bodies.
Read the book by Sinclair, The Jungle, and maybe you get a feel for the mentality our AMP gals have inside their heads.

A friend, even for an hour, a nice guy that doesn't treat them like the trash they are for the other 11 hours of their day, who doesn't stick his dirty hands down her pants in the first ten seconds, who doesn't stink and all the other trash people come into AMPs like, can get just about anything.
