Hello,

I would like to ask besides wearing condoms and taking STD tests and all the other steps to practice safe sex, what else should heterosexual hobbyists do to prevent themselves from getting monkeypox since we don't meet all the requirements for the vaccines right now?

Please share your opinions and advice. Thank you in advance!

16000 cases in USA, 0 deaths. You’re being manipulated into a frenzy. You’ve got a much greater chance of encountering a ladyboy for a massage than getting this.

Oh wait that’s my answer. No sex with ladyboys.
I got some poison ivy on one arm earlier this summer. Most definite poison ivy, knew right what I did. Sent a photo to this massage girl on kakao on my way to an appointment, she texted monkey pox, recalled it, then was busy when I arrived and didn’t see me for two weeks. Her loss, I’ve got a new girl in her shop now.

I think it’s funny that you’re not understanding of the massage girl’s reaction to your rash picture. If a Massage girl shows me a rash , I’m not taking her word for it that it’s not monkeypox, herpes, syphillis etc… I’m walking out the door and taking my chances elsewhere.

If you can’t tell the difference between poison ivy and monkey pox, you’re just ignorant. They are as far apart in looks as is sunburn and acne.

I wouldn’t expect my masseuse to have clinical skills in the differential diagnosis of various vesiculobullous rashes. Besides having any open rash exposes yourself and contacts with a robust port of entry or transmission for other infectious diseases. I’ve had poison Ivy, it’s gross looking - I wouldn’t think of subjecting a masseuse to touching it. Stay home when you have a rash.

I'm no doctor but reading the facts of this virus and who is getting it, I'm not concerned. At this time it's very rare outside of a particular group and particular activities. It's also not fatal to the best of what I've seen from reliable government sources. Of course you can catch any virus from anyone, stomach viruses, cold viruses, etc . That's just the way or the world and has always been. I'm more concerned about getting covid or herpes tbh. Just my two cents, be safe gentleman

Disagree, despite your quote from some online medical dictionary . Small patch, one arm, covered with a wrap. No big deal. It is IMPOSSIBLE for poison ivy to spread between people. The main point is that people were just going hysterical over a minor problem and treating it like another Covid. Fortunately common sense is prevailing now anyway.

Title of discussion “how to prevent monkeypox….”

Answer don’t get a massage or body to body contact while having an open weeping rash sounds like a good starting point…

& the quite was from me btw not some online medical dictionary. I’m on an infectious disease stewardship team at a hospital in the city.

Got an active rash - avoid body to body contact until it subsides and don’t get offended when people don’t want to touch your rash.

Hopefully I won’t go to your hospital for advice. People with monkey pox are contagious way before any rash appears. A vastly more intelligent approach is to look for those other symptoms that occur first and be careful around people who show them, than mindless fear mongering over a spot on someone’s skin that any website would identify as being non contagious poison ivy. Seriously some of you guys should just stay home and cower under your beds.
