I remember when these places were never talked about openly and when people did talk it was anonymously and in hushed voices in the dark corners of the internet. Now I bump into three mongers coming and going to every shithole in the wall in Passaic.
I think business is booming. These places seem much busier and well known than they were 20 years ago. And the fact is most of the shitty service we get these days is because these places know they are one of very few options.
Imagine if there were only 5 restaurants in Passaic. Now imagine if there were 15.
All of a sudden you're getting service with a smile and a slice of warm cherry pie for a reasonable price.
