I just got here to AMP reviews. I had Covid about 6-7 weeks ago. Previous to contraction, I was told to go out and enjoy my life . Wrong. Paxlovid saved my life at 67. I am double vax and double boosted, the second booster only 4 weeks previous to contracting it. The vaccination we all took does not offer much protection against BA 5 Omicron variant, but it does keep the disease from spreading to the lower lung by having antibodies in the upper. While I was being checked out, the doctor noticed I had a strange rash on my thigh. I turned out to be nothing. The doctor asked some questions such as am I gay, have I visited a provider male or female. I asked why, and they doc explained Monkey pox to me. I had not heard anything previous to that. Then he asked me the million dollar question.. have you ever been vaccinated for small pox. He saw the telltale scar on my arm. If you have been vaccinated for small pox you cannot get monkey pox. The small pox vaccine lasts for life.
Monkey pox is a derivative of small pox. We as a culture stopped vaccinations for it in 1972. If you were born around then of after you were not vaccination and need to be. That is what I was told, so no it is not a concern. Please double check what I am saying both on Google and with your doctor. I not only spreads from skin to skin or intimate contact, it can be on the sheets, those slippers you put on, the pillow case. Err on the side of caution.
