Reinstatement List

My final question is this…..for any of you that found yourself reinstated, but not by request….what led you to find out your handle was active again? Did any of you receive a notification from the site that drew you back here….like maybe one of your posts got liked or replied to and that generated a notification? I’m curious…..
I was banned back in early January in the "San Jose is not San Francisco" purge after I posted a topic that clearly pissed someone off. I wrote a few "Contact Us" emails asking to be reinstated and then gave up. I subsequently took a break from the hobby altogether and stopped checking the site.

A little while ago I wrote another "Contact Us" email and then looked at the site and noticed the huge change to the Northern California section. Then I tried to log in and THAT is how I found out I was reinstated. If there was any notification or reply earlier then I never saw it. Anyway, I've been poking around and saw this question so I thought I would let you know how/why I found out my handle was active again. I see that I lost all my review credit, oh well. Glad to be back.

Nice to be back :)
Just a quick question before I get back to writing reviews, are we still meant to put pricing in code? Like 2.6 or $$.6 instead of $260?

And also, if any of you have links to any past posts or reviews you think are still deleted, post them or PM them to us so we can restore them

Thanks all
sorry for the double post

The last notification I ever got from the site was a rejection notice for one of my reviews, left blank with no reason given, and when I tried logging in to contest it, I noticed I had been banned.

I actually was browsing today to get info on some Boston and DC spas, and that’s when I saw the title of this thread, just the title lol, and I tried logging back in and it worked. So for me, it was pure chance that I realized I was back :ROFLMAO:

So you can add word of mouth to the reasons. I'm new here but a long time hobby friend of mine had been on here for a few years. I told him about the reinstatement list, so he checked and realized he was able to get back on.

Oh by the way, yeah somewhere on this massive thread I did indicate a limit on reinstating stupidly and unfairly banned handles, but we have certainly kept that going as people keep trickling in at a very nice pace who check in to find the landscape has changed.

You can forget that limit. We are still actively searching for deleted posts to restore and deleted members to bring back. And now we are in an era where the word delete isn’t even in our vocabulary….

Question: I’ve seen many references from members who magically found they were restored without being on any list. I’ll explain that. That’s because I extracted every username on this site that had been banned for any reason. I separated all of the handles that had been banned at registration through spam detection and then I took the remaining list. This list consisted of usernames that were banned manually by a member of this staff.

I filtered this list (in the thousands) by # of posts and # of reviews.

For decades I’ve held the philosophy that you can tell a member’s intentions within their first 25 posts. If someone is here to make trouble, they’re not gonna wait and pretend to be normal for 25 posts before they start wreaking havoc on the community. That still holds true today, although members can go “sour” on a board after a long period of being a great contributing member, and when that happens, 99% of the time it’s due to shitty management of the board.

So with that core philosophy in mind, I blanket restored ALL banned handles that had at least 50 posts and at least 2 approved reviews.

That amounted to about 80% of every handle manually banned by a staff member. In my eyes, that remaining minority of 20% were more than likely trouble makers, banned with proper justification. Some of them though were probably good members who didn’t post a lot or didn’t have reviews. We will have to hope we get those through them stumbling on here and asking to be reinstated.

saw a email in a junk folder, was shocked for a min, then once opened realized it was a mass spam DM sent a few days ago to my old account

Not sure what you mean by "still meant to", since we've always said to put the actual amount. Some guys still choose to use the silly codes, which we've said numerous times that it fools no one and creates even more confusion, since there is no consistency of the "codes". The members who still do probably do it as a force of habit but they should stop and write the actual amounts. The same guys who use codes likely still use their AOL email address, lol

No notifications went out that an account was reinstated. But what everyone on the staff has been doing for the past few weeks is to unban many, many members, even if not requested. See TJ and my posts about it here:

Thanks man. Appreciate whoever nominated me to be brought back from the dead. :ROFLMAO:

It's literally been two years.

I've been lurking occasionally and have had some valuable input that could have saved mongers time and money. I hope this is the beginning of a new chapter for more efficient and productive mongering :D

Oh really? Lol I could have sworn it was a thing, I read it often written that way in a buncha reviews so I just followed suit.
Ok, duly noted, thanks.

Was banned a few months ago over a misunderstanding (I think that is why I was banned), sent a few emails asking for clarification on the ban but never heard back.

dropped by today for the first time in awhile and saw a post asking for names of people to unban, unfortunately nobody mentioned me :(
decided to try logging in and it worked.

@ topjimmy I was banned deactivated in late December 2022. I made a new profile (Wetwilly Scout) on 06/20/23.
I then came across this thread about “Reinstatement List” and checked my old account Anon732 and found it has been reactivated?
Is it possible to delete “Wetwilly Scout” and merge the two accounts as I now have 89 review days on the new account.

Thank you in advance. Love this site and I am glad to be back!!
