I drove out to take a closer look.
It looks like a piece of orange construction paper, and bears the following message:
As a personal child
we are closed today
we are open on
wednesdays

Oh awesome! My mistaje; just from a distance when I see a closed sign and an orange piece of paper I usually assume one thing.

They also finally responded to a text message I sent, saying they were sorry about closing today for personal reasons, but will be open for business tomorrow (Wednesday)

As a follow-up, they texted me back that they all went up to NYC for the day to celebrate the boss's son's birthday.
She seemed a bit indignant that there was so much fuss, but I mentioned that we were just concerned.
