Wow. I grew up 2 blocks from there towards the park. It has really gentrified over the past 10 years. Sadly not much action these days gotta head up past the bridge or up Grand St. And Eldridge. Rising rent making it harder harder do bzness.

I think that's the reason why we are seeing fewer and fewer spas. It's all about the rent! There are tons of Chinese coming into the country that will soon flood spas with new providers but they don't have anywhere to work. I wonder if this will drive spas to open in placed like uptown Manhattan and the Bronx. Pretty much untapped areas with cheaper rent.

Looks like new ownership at 51 Canal. Stopped by and saw someone there today who also works at 37 Eldridge. After a good run, Maggie may have retired, but I'm not certain that's the case. It's also possible she just yielded the location.
