Rubmaps had only 2 reviews for Orchids of Asia for all of 2018. Maybe the one from Dec was a real doozy with 11 comments. But could the reviews have been the main impetus for which shop to hit? A couple others had only a couple reviews.

The police staged a bomb scare--cleared the place out for a couple of hours and placed cams. Ridiculous--they were obviously targeting celebrities, like Kraft, to get publicity. There was no sex trafficking at any of those places--and if they really were concerned about the employees, how come they let them continue working for months when they would have had plenty of evidence to close the spas down after a few days?

what made them think there would be celebrities there? was the spa in a rich area?

I’m sure they just wanted to catch those big names... I’m sure the police who did this investigation will get fired for even attacking those high powered people... bad move on them.

Not sure anyone will get fired but the fact that LE is trying to convict these guys in the media may be pissing off some very powerful dudes. Stirring up a hornet's nest. They might end up regreting that move.

Deadspin.com is doing some pretty good reporting on the case.

Neighbors complained which lead to a health inspection. During they inspection the found two rooms with mattress’s, blankets, and a fridge and they suspected a trafficking situation. The cameras were installed during a fake bomb threat evacuation.

This is 90% politics--local, feminists, and bible belt Thumpers.

Yes, trafficking is real, does happen at AMPs, and is slavery. But all the people behind these stings really don't care about the reality, it is much better for their story line if they publicize that ALL sex workers are trafficked.

As a result they are happy to arrest, embarrass, and harass the wonem and clients who are not at all connected with force, gangs, trafficing.

The right thing to do would be legalize it, and hit the gangs/drugs/money laundering/slavery people. But no, ALL sex must be immoral, NO ONE possibly does this on their own, etc. So let's impose Thumper morals on everyone and put it on the nightly news for votes.

Trafficking is rare in brick and mortar AMPs. AMP employees almost always live in the AMP, not because they are being held prisoner, but for several reasons--here are just three:
1. They have no income they can declare on a rental application--they don't get any documentation of their share of the house fee or their tips. So they can't rent a decent place without proof of income. And listing their employer as an AMP probably would not endear them to some landlords.
2. Hours usually run from 9 or 10 AM to 10 or 11 PM. The vast majority don't want a car or want to try to get a driving license, so they would have to get a cab, uber, bus, or walk to whatever place they were living at if not in the spa. Possibly dangerous late at night or money they don't want to spend. And it would seriously cut into the time they have to sleep and to get ready for work in the morning.
3. The issues of dealing with utilities, furnishing an apartment, etc. would be a headache given the limited English some have and another expense--they want to amass money, not spend it.

Well said JV....There is no Trafficking, sex slaves or "prisoners" is the stores...I know because I live with them in Flushing 3-4 days a week...They travel freely and work for who they want.... Consider, that only one "trafficking" charge has come out of this Florida debacle...and it most likely won't stick...LE has no idea how this business works... if they wanted to go after trafficking they would go after the "fast Houses" ..Russian and Latino...but that's to hard and to Dangerous... these Vice guys are too dumb and too afraid to go after the real Bad guys...what's easier, bust a few China gals or fuck with Russian mob or M-13... LE are bureaucrats hanging on for their pensions nothing more...AMPs are "low hanging fruit...Nothing more...
....BTW.... all the local gals are "bailing" as we speak... going home to NY... no customers...no business... you heard it here first ...LOL
Best Regards

Sometimes it is good that the American public cannot stay focused on one thing very long. There is always a new shiny object to stare at. I agree things will cool off eventually, but there will be some losses, just like the last sweep that took out the whole 309 corridor. And adding hobbyists to the target list will change the way we proceed.

I'm waiting for some journalist to do an expose on how several non-profits are using the "human trafficking" hoax to get rich by pandering to politicians and Evangelicals.
