Sad to see three massage polars I visit before were closed recently.

1. Ocean Spa in 410 Old York Rd, Jenkintown. Not sure the reason of closure.

2. Joy Spa in 7917 Bustleton Ave. There were a business suspension notice hanging on the door saying they violated the Zoning Code and Fire Code.

3. Hitomi Spa in 1933 Rhawn St. There was also a Zoning Code violation notice on the door.

I'm not familar with the Zoning Permit. Does it cover prostitute violation?

Joy spa has ads up today and responding to texts. Obviously they are still open
I passed by Hitomi on Saturday and the OPEN sign was lit.

Not sure about Joy Spa. I saw the notice a couple days ago. For Hitomi Spa, I drove by and saw the notice two hours ago.

It's my understanding the Zoning violations don't relate to prostitution per se. Rather, they're more about operating a business not zoned for that address or area. It's analogous to the feds getting Al Capone on tax evasion rather than violent crimes. End result is the same.

Closing can be for many reasons even if reported for other nuisance reasons. Zoning is about use of the property, ither violations can be if they dont meet requirements for the service...sinks and toilets not matching sq ft and # of employees. Stations of each employee not having everything needed for a licensed practitioner. Failed to meet inspector requirements...like having a named licensed person not show up. Theres lots of ways they.can find a demerit if they look hard enough (outside of any extra services) and those can be very expensive to fix

I was just at hitomi this morning very open
I guess I was wrong then. I walked by around 12 and the light was off. I assume it was off too when you were in there. The "Zoning Code Violation" on the window I saw was probably a "Zoning Permit" instead. Honestly, I only saw the word "Zoning" because I quickly walked by and just took a glance. LOL!

Thank you for your explanation. I'm glad there is a chance Joy Spa will come back for business one day.

Lavender was a zoning violation. I saw that coming as the location was next to a very popular restaurant. This was a very popular place for little leagues come here after games to get pizza. I know that area well. Another mistake they made was keeeping the front door locked which added to the suspicion. If they kept open. You wouldn’t have mongers waiting out front while the people outside waiting for there pizzas to be ready. They just made it look shady.
If you followed the Jenkintwon fb group the Karen’s were all over Ocean Spa. It wasn’t an if but when it would be closed. Zoning violations make it a nice easy closing without bringing attention that LE has let prostitution go on in their neighborhood. Win win for PD, for locals seeing it closed and spa owners and workers not getting busted
