It’s no worse that meta, Apple or google for invading your privacy. Personally I’d rather have the Chinese government track me than google, because knowing where I am is useless to the Chinese. But google can relentlessly pound me with localized ads, and stores info on where I’ve been forever and sells it to everyone. Not to defend TikTok, it’s useless drivel. But I find it a joke that people draw the line at TikTok, but surrender their privacy to Facebook, instagram, google maps, etc all day long.

Here's the other side of the argument:

China is on okay terms with the US right now. If it ever goes bad, China cannot compete with the US in conventional warfare.. they will try to go after us technologically. Cyber warfare is the next battlefield, Russia notwithstanding. If China decides to brick every phone with TikTok loaded on, that would cripple our country's communications.

Meta and Google can know that I like to browse women with a certain build. I don't believe they will ever have any ill will towards me though.

Are you seriously afraid of TikTok? Do you even imagine how many Chinese applications each of us installs on our phone without knowing their origin? I'm sure it's too late to think about the dangers of Chinese social networks because the Chinese ALREADY have huge archives with the personal data of billions of people, obtained in other ways. You can only ensure your safety if you never install suspicious apps or use a phone made in China. So it makes no sense to stop using TikTok. On the contrary, I can recommend you enforcesocial site for account promotion. If the Chinese already know everything about us, then let them enjoy our creativity while they can, lol.

I have been getting a notification from Google for months that I have to enter my birthday to help Google comply with the law. (?) Screw them and the law, If they really want my birthday I'm sure they can find it.

Tiktok and Wechat are all targets on all Government phones and can't be installed. I have both and don't
care I'm too old to give a rats ass. I'm certainly not an intended target.

exactly this. Do y'all think you're that important to these governments? what the fuck are they going to do to you? its not like they have our socials and bank Accs. Its just for activity tracking for personalized ads.
