I’ll be posting restaurants in this thread and my sessions in the New York Review section.

Overall, I had a very nice time. It’s only a one-hour flight from Newark, great food, cute and cool girls (escorts and civvies), crazy hockey fans who hate the Bruins, there was no Dunkin Donuts which was fine because I enjoyed Tim Hortons and very nice people.

Two members from this site and I were curious about this place so we checked it out.

It’s around 7 kilometers away from downtown. So around a 20-minute Uber ride.

When we arrived, we saw two old men and only one waitress working and she was wearing only bra and panties. She’s half Hatian and half Canadian. She speaks English and French. She said not many people from New York have visited this place so she was surprised to see us. She said most customers are locals.

The menu is very simple—beer, sandwiches and pasta and the prices are CDN 15 and under.

The atmosphere was dead, the food was okay. The waitress was very flirtatious and has a very bubbly personality but she was too thick for my taste. We still tipped her extra for her extra effort.

They open at 5am so she told us that she has to wake up at 3am to get ready for work.

It’s too far away from downtown where we were staying at, the food was just okay and only one girl was working so my recommendation is “No”.

Breakfast here is very delicious, It gets very busy after 9am. The waitresses are young and cute. The portions are huge too. Great food and service so my recommendation is “Yes”.

I heard so many great stories about this bagel shop but I thought the bagel was too dry and had no taste at all. There was a long line to order bagels when I arrived. My recommendation is “No”. Am I missing something about this place? lol

Yes… what you’re missing is you are unknowingly a NY/NJ bagel snob. Can’t have the best in the world and expect some wannabe to match it.

Supposedly these are what NY bagels were like 200 years ago. I'll take them at their word. During a visit to Montreal decades ago for the Jazz Festival, I stopped in here for breakfast out of curiosity (my rental apt. was within walking distance). This was the only place I've ever had a sand timer delivered to my table with my morning coffee. "Wait until done to press your coffee" - and French Press coffee has been my little inexpensive weekend indulgence ever since. I don't remember a thing about the bagel beyond a sesame seed getting caught between two teeth and giving me a headache that could have also been my hangover. But damn, that was good coffee.

I saw a long line (at least ten people were waiting) which made me curious. And people were eating with chopsticks. I thought it was a Canadian-style Chinese restaurant but it’s not.

The sauce was good. I still don’t know what I ate and I don’t know why people are given chopsticks instead of a fork. lol

You are deeply mistaken. Montreal has some of the very best bagels anywhere, though I don't know the particular place above. It's a different style than in New York, but no less authentic - Montreal has a strong Jewish tradition. Jewish Montrealers can talk for hours about the superiority of their style, and they have some good points. I like both styles, but there's nowhere safe to say that.
