Never heard of a current Harmony Theater
The ORIGINAL was closed down by Herr Rudy Giuliani in his great porn purge of 1998. Even then the guy was a douchebag
A douchebag who saved the lives of hundreds of innocent women and children by stopping and frisking the animals who carried the guns killing them. When he took office 2200 NYC murders in NYC that dropped to the 200's.

Murder in NYC peaked in 1990 at 2605, dropped to 2,397 in 1992.
Rudy started as mayor in 1993. (Murder actually went up a little that year) His last year was 2001 when it was 960.

Crime dropped all over the place and continued to drop until covid. People much smarter than you have studied in depth and still don't know for sure why.

(I didn't look, but I'll bet this board has a no-politics policy, so I'll stop here.)

It did drop to the 200's. We'll let the smart guys determine if it was result of Rudy's policy. I'm just happy it dropped and resulted in lives saved.

You keep believing that. And I’m sure in the Easter bunny and the Jersey Devil as well.,.. Crime dropped in almost every major city in America when the crack epidemic abated. But I’m not here to debate that (or his post 9/11 antics). You can look it up if you want and believe whatever you want,

But think about this: Rudy was banging some woman who was not his wife… While he started a “moral”vendetta against strip clubs and porno shops that were causing harm to no one. THAT makes him a douchebag

And by the way… a lot of innocent people were “stopped and frisked “ for no cause. But since they probably didn’t look like you or anyone in your family or that you knew , I’m sure you didn’t give a shit
I leave it at that

I can tell you from personal experience it was real. Most of these threads are just the tip of the iceberg as to what it was like in those days. I was a high schooler in the early 70 s. We would cut out from school and take the subway to Times Square. XXX movie theatres, peep shows and adult book stores were on every block. Can’t forget watching Behind the Green Door and The Resurrection of Eve. You can Google them. The mid 70 s ushered in the Disco era when it seemed a new bar or club opened every week. We partied 6 nights a week everywhere from local bars and clubs in Queens and LI to the singles bars on 1st Avenue and Studio 54. It was a completely different world then. People just wanting to party and have a good time. No one cared about your politics or religion back then. One nights stands, car sex, threesomes, and anything else you can think of were the norm. No matter what you itch was you could find someone or someplace to scratch it. I was in my mid 40 s when I started in the AMP scene. We would browse the ads in the Village Voice. Eventually sites like Spa Hunters and Backpages emerged making the print searches obsolete. I had dinner with my best friend over the week end. We are almost 70 now and have been friends since high school. We spent a couple of hours reminiscing about back in the day. We both agree that it seems like we’re talking about another person in another lifetime in a world that no longer exists.
I certainly get what you’re saying.,, I will walk through Times Square or Chelsea or Soho and have a flood of memories about what USED to be in this spot or that- now a restaurant or some tourist t shirt place where back in the day all sorts of wild shit took place. Like where BBQs now stands on 42nd Street was the location of the Harem Theater- where I was brave (and stupid ) enough to venture into their balcony- where crackheads were lighting up their pipes and a blonde young woman offered me a BJ (which I declined- the whole atmosphere was just too fucking scary). That was in the early 90s- before the whole street was shut down

Small price to pay to spare the lives of innocent children who may have otherwise been killed by an unintended stray bullet.

I’m going to assume that you or anyone you know were never stopped and frisked without just cause. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
And feel free to look up the reasoning behind WHY courts outlawed that practice in NYC… or don’t

As Paul Simon once sang “A man believes what he wants to believe and disregards the rest”

As a street musician in NYC I've had more encounters with stereo typing police than I can count. What I've learned is that if you've nothing to hide .. no big deal.

It’s always “no big deal “ when and if the worse is happening to someone ELSE.,,

How many times have you been stopped by police ?
In my 33 yrs of busking mine is easily over 100.
If yours is more that I'll defer to YOUR experience .
Until then......
I would bet my left testicle that you and I look nothing alike …. I am pretty sure you get my point.

Unless you do, then maybe you can RESPECT my experience…. Not asking you to DEFER to it

Please tell us your experience . I told you a lot about mine .
Perhaps we've met before in the back of a paddy wagon .
See you didn’t address my point, but that’s OK….
I don’t want to make this personal or about me. Maybe you can ask Patrick Dorismond’s mom her take on it….
Do your research and see that studies showed that “stop and frisk “ was almost totally ineffective at preventing crime. Which is why the courts outlawed the practice in NYC. Or don’t…. I’m not here to try to change minds. If you believe in the myth that Rudy eliminated all crime in this city, I can no more dissuade you from that position than I can dissuade someone from believing that the world was created in 7 days or that 72 virgins await in the afterlife

By the way, to the best of my knowledge (and correct me if I’m wrong), but performing in public without a license is an offense in New York City. So I wouldn’t exactly say that you were “stopped for no reason “
(Though as a music lover I think such a statute is totally bullshit myself)

Getting bored here. Moving on to pussy threads.

I came of age later but got to see what you described up close & personal. Except with less hairy bodies. I hung out in what we called the underground music scene - AKA punk rock clubs like Max's & Hurrah - and last call in those days was 4AM, we were always up till dawn, and sex was everywhere (something like getting blown in the ladies bathroom at Irving Plaza, when it was an expansion of Club 57, was a normal occurrence)

The only thing anyone worried about was this new thing called herpes. And what I experienced is NOTHING compared to the crazy stories I heard from gay friends before AIDS hit
Funny you should mention the hairy bodies. There was a bar on the corner of Kenmare and Spring Streets in Manhattan where they showed vintage porn on the flat screens behind the bar. All the women had matching hairdos top and bottom. There was a girl I grew up with that had a younger sister who was into the punk scene - CBGB s, the Mudd Club, A7 and so forth. I never got into that scene. Got back into the city nightlife a year or so before 9/11. The Park, APT, Eugene’s, Spa and Chaos to name a few. Mid 40 s then and soon realized it’s was time to pass the torch to the next generation. Truth be told there’s a thrill to rolling out at night that’s like no other. I sometimes think about giving up the mongers life, usually while walking to my car after a terrible session but to be honest life would be awful boring without it.
