1987 Chevy Cavalier. It was a total POS by 2001 but I was 17 and I loved it - all the freedom I needed. No chance my parents could afford a car for me so I bought it for $150 off my neighbor, an ex-trucker who junked cars as a retirement hobby.
A few years later he was killed when a chain on his trailer snapped and one fell on top of him. (Not a “cool” memory but a fitting death for a badass dude) RIP

My 65 Chevy was purchased for $100. Those were the days.
I remember gas at .36/gal when I started driving. My pride and joy was a '66 Corvette fastback, 427 CID, 425HP. I bought it in showroom condition from a used sports car dealer in' 69 for $3600. I was at the Mecham auto auction about a year and a half ago and an identical car (except for paint) brought 75K. Still kick myself sometimes for letting it go.

Alfa Romeo, Sprint Veloce coupe, 1958, 1250 CC aluminum engine, scat pack to 1500 CC. Ghia rear and Ferrari influenced front. Bought it from a guy who raced her at Bridgehampton. $800. Naturally, as a College Senior totaled the car on the Philly Expressway in 1970.

Check it out on the Auction sites: The car model goes from $68,000 to $125,000 restored.

1998 Jeep Cherokee Limited 2wd loaded except 4wd.

Bought with 12,000 miles from my elderly neighbors and it was destroyed by a drunk driver when it had 215,000 miles, best car I ever owned.

Seems like the Favorite Guitarist and Famous People threads have been closed. Too bad. Now the Boardwide Topics are aggrieved old farts ranting about politics and religion.

Another car from my youth was the 1968 Javelin. Nice car, good handling, more pep than I expected from a 290 V8. Added an 8 track player and blasted Jefferson Airplane.

Nice styling. I had an early 70's Matador. For a big barge it had some power. Put headers and duals on it. Yellow with a green vinyl top. I called it the banana.

I thought the 68 Javelin and the 68 AMX were nice styling. They muscled up the car in 1970 and it lost its nice original lines. Mine was bright red with white vinyl top. As I recall, engine was fairly advanced -- all aluminum?
