You ain't lying about kids today having it rougher. Back in our day, our 'drill' was for a threat that never materialized (nuclear war). Their active shooter drills are essential because there's a mass shooting practically every day. Throw in social media expectations, over-medication, a shittier environment, COVID and ghost guns and it makes the 80s crack epidemic look like a tea party.

Shit....I didn't even think that this would really disrupt mainstream, therapeutic massage. I'm pretty active and I love my bi-weekly sports massage. Clean place, totally legit....but if a couple of customers have it and they don't quite clean the sheets well enough..........ugh.

I can go months just taking care of myself instead of visiting an AMP but I can't really give myself a full body massage after a couple of hours on the bike or in the gym.

According to an article in the Boston Globe -

“Monkeypox also spreads through contact with items like sheets, towels, and clothes that have been used by someone with the virus.”

Yeah, I think I’m gonna take an EXTENDED break from visiting any AMPs until this clears up. :(

Things to have at home or vaccinate with

If we are going to monger have the following

Vaccination for smallpox anytime in your life

Vaccination for polio anytime in your life

Covid: all vaccinations and boosters , Paxlovid , oximeter , thermometer , Advil and home testing kits

Monkey pox

Either you were vaccinated for smallpox and or monkey pox other wise stay home

Polio

If you were never vaccinated as a child go get it now - stay home till you do

Other unrelated meds to have on hand
erythromycin ophthalmic in case your eyes get infected from ( drumroll) dirty sheets

Acyclovir in case you develop herpes

Penicillin in case anything else happens see Dr first . If it drips you’re in a world of shit .

Stay safe follow the rules and observe the above - don’t bring a knife to a gunfight

The older ones of us are vaccinated against smallpox. Depends where you grew up and what year smallpox vaccinations ended there. I think in the US it was around 1970. I'm sure someone can find out for themselves.

I hope however that we have learned something from COVID and if a provider or a monger has a fever they are not going to show up in a spa.

Sheets and bedding are highly transmissible as are DFK , BBBJ , any saliva transmission, as well as drinking from a contaminated persons water bottle, sharing silverware, toothbrush and even the water from a toilet splashing up upon flushing of the water is contaminated - like you get in an un flushed toilet where someone peed before and you didn’t notice . Yuck .

These are facts not my opinion . I hope this clears it up . As for the previous anti gay peanut gallery ( I’m not gay) this is why the world is so screwed up . Seems to me if there was a little more love , tolerance and understanding in the world , it might b a better place

You theoretically *can* get it from any surface, but there has not been a rush of cases in hotel maids or laundry workers so it's not quite common. Since it is transmitted in the gay men community it is clear that some level of skin to skin contact is the preferred method of transition.
What is not clear -at least to me- is how easily it is transmitted BEFORE symptoms.
Stay tuned and pay attention...

Funny, the only thing I associate with smallpox is the story of U.S. soldiers purposely distributing blankets filled with the stuff to Native Americans, I guess in a early, primitive attempt at genocide. Other than that, you never heard it mentioned as much as chicken pox, mumps, polio, etc.

As for someone staying home if they feel symptomatic?

You have a much more CHARITABLE view of human nature than I do. :(

Good info. Thanks. I do not think that there has been a case of smallpox since the 50s.
