Y'All don't understand! These fine upstanding O-fi-sirs are fighting a valiant battle against the godless commie pink Chinese, and the heathans who are out to destroy or way of life!

The citizens of this fine county should be blessed to pay out millions if it gets us a conviction on even one immoral misdemeanor. It's the domino theory at work: let's those scumbag men escape justice and the next thing you know is they will want stupid things like getting rid of blue laws and wanting us to start flying the USSR flag on the state Capitol. You just mark my words!

Those few million we spend on lawsuits instead of more drug enforcement or cutting the murder rate is money well spent! 'Course if those people falsely arrested were TRUE sons of the South they would see the righteousness of our cause and forego any monitary award so as we can buy more cameras and spy on more perverts. (Just whatever you do, don't point any of those cameras at the sheep pens behind Jimmy-Bob's trailer. Please don't do that!)

There's principle, and then there's waste of tax payer's money. This case is turning out to be a very very poor return on principle.

A general comment: I think Florida sheriffs and district attorneys are elected. I think this has a lot to do with what happens down there. They grandstand for election and re-election purposes.

And given the sheer number of old farts getting arrested for seeking sex in Florida, they obviously are not electing the right people for their sex lives.

Sir, you are correct on all counts. FL is a strange universe.

@BillaBong "Don't these prosecutors themselves have any feelings?" If you read my comments on this site somewhere about my advocating experience recently, you may understand better? The prosecutors are brainwashed with hefty stress to record at least 90% conviction rates for their reputations regardless of the famous word "Justice." 90% or more conviction INCLUDES plea bargains accepted by the defendants. I advocated for a C provider recently and had to fight HARD because the Prosecutor was taking advantage of the provider due to language barrier. I have been advocating for a long time and have seen too much shit they carry around in public with hypocrisy. Most prosecutors, I wish I could say all and I do not have facts, know that they sharpen their reputation by taking advantage of the civilians who could not afford attorneys as well as non-English speakers. They are ruthless. Every time, I hear any word Prosecutor from radio or from reading newspaper who took advantage of civilians makes me wonder how they could sleep at night. Also makes me wonder how they could enjoy their vacations and so on.

As for serious crimes such as mass shooting, let them do their ruthless job to protect us. That, I agree. But being ruthless on petty things such as parlor-customer business is uncalled for.

Can you clarify what you mean by advocating? How did you advocate for provider C? What what’s your role during her trial?

Already noted in the quotes of your post, #41. :)
Definitely happens with age.

I noted in the appeal filed by the Florida AG, the argument is being made that because police acted in good faith, intrusions into the privacy of others is okay. If this argument succeeds, it's a sad day in the civvie and mongering world. I also noted that the AG wrote the following in the appeal. We're overwhelmingly criminal I guess:

“Though it is of course preferable that no customer be recorded receiving a lawful massage, the recorded acts proved to be overwhelmingly criminal in nature.”

My role is an Advocate. It is similar to paralegals, but I litigate with prosecutors when clients are arrested to ensure clients walk away scot free. As for how, I am not comfortable to share my secret in public.

That's their argument. Whether it's permissible to violate the privacy of those 4 individuals is up to the judge in their Civil suit to decide.

WRT the appeal, I think this just reinforces Kraft's attorney's argument that the PD failed to put in place procedures to stop recording if no criminal activity was found.

I saw something that said if Kraft loses and is found guilty, the NFL can fine him $500,000.

I would never predict what the NFL would do, but to put a sterner hit on Kraft than offenders like Ray Rice or Tyreek Hill is just wrong. So they might.

That's because players are fined under a different set of guidelines through collective bargaining by the NFL Players Association. Kraft, as an owner is governed by the standard NFL guidelines.

Both of which have a lot of subjectivity--and based upon the vendetta approach the NFL has had towards the Patriots i would not be shocked in the least if the NFL went overboard on Kraft.

(PS I am in no way a Pat's fan)

Don't think it's anything against the Pats. More like it's against owners. They gave the same fine in 2014 against Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay for a DUI.

I don't think Kraft is going to win the case in Florida.

The appeal will make the video evidence admissible.

Then it goes to trial. Where I think he and others will lose.

It's possible. But Kraft's legal team is way better than anything the AG can put together. The only thing they have to do is to convince the jury. Which means they have to be very very careful in the jury selection process. Hopefully given the number of arrested mongers, the numbers that haven't been caught will make up some of the jury. Plus, he already has Reasonable Doubt in that the sexual act could be argued as spontaneous and wasn't paid for.

Lefty, what do you base that on. Both the FBI and the DHS were involved and they bailed when it was clear that there was no compulsory prostitution involved. The warrant for the sneak-and-peak cameras came after that. I don't know if a judge would reverse this as it would be an embarrassment to not only the prosecution but the system as a whole.

The appeal will not make the video evidence admissible because the le focused on a certain business lying to next door businesses about the bomb threat where the le premeditated to install hidden cameras based on "ass"umptions and the higher le bolted with embar"ass"ment and sunk taxpayer funds.

The da/ag will do anything to preserve their asses at taxpayers funds for future elections and/or reelections.

The prosecutors are too embarrassed to drop the charges. This is a disorderly conduct misdemeanor on the same level of getting into drunk in public and making a fool of yourself or getting swept up in a political protest. The problem the prosecution has is the police conducting the investigation knew there was not sexual slavery or forced prostitution going on prior to their “tactical ruse” and installing cameras. What I found funny is that the article did not touch on how, and why, the prosecution escalated the charges against the women and one man involved in the spa to felonies. This is a clear example of a duel criminal justice system, one for the rich and one for the rest of us. The justice you get is the justice you can afford.
Sadly it has always been a world of the haves and have nots. If u have money u can afford the best of everything even to the point of pushing the government around. Just my 2 cents
