The speed at which the temporary roadway was installed is impressive by any measure. The lightning pace will ease up some now that the pressure to reopen the highway is off. It's still going to be a while before the pre-crash conditions are restored. I for one will be curious at the final accounting tally of the seemingly limitless and very creative emergency expenditures. Your gas taxes at work, fellas.
Despite the hype and the parade down the NE Extension with the pace car, I think bringing in the track dryer from Pocono Raceway to combat the wet weather was a great example of creative thinking. It only happened because the Secretary of Transportation used to represent the district containing the racetrack in the Legislature, and made a personal request for assistance when his daily update included possible weather delays. If you weren't previously, we all should be NASCAR fans now.
