I got a call today from
Someone claiming to be from Philadelphia police human trafficking department. They called from
This number +1 (215) 683-3723
They said they wanted to ask me questions about a 17 forced into prostitution that I had called and texted. They said I wasn’t under investigation they just wanted some info to try and locate her and that they got phone records. They asked if I would answer some questions. I said I would. The first question was what website did I try to contact her on. At that point I said that I didn’t feel comfortable and would rather come to the station to ensure it was legit. He then said if I came in they would have to arrest me. I said so and he said they would come and arrest me and I’d see them in court. I haven’t seen anyone that could be under age. I go for mature providers. And only independents. I’m assuming it’s a scam, probably related to TGTBT scam ads. But I’m freaked out. Googled the number and only a Facebook page for Philly warrant office that seemed suspect and usacops.com. Nothing official Philly police. I can’t imagine if this was actually the police they would refuse my offer to come in for questioning. I’m definitely not texting anyone new for a long time if ever. Has this happened to anyone?

I had some woman hit me up on Facebook a few weeks ago. She asked me if I was alone and if I could FaceTime. When I did she was super hot and preceded to strip. Then I got a text saying that she was underage and I was recorded and they tried to blackmail me. I assume it’s retaliated to that or to one of the fake adds on Rubratings.

The funny thing is I do have chicks that sometimes hit me up on Facebook and send me nudes so I didn’t think it was implausible!

Wow, scary stuff if you're not ready for that kind of call.

I would of answered it this way, "Officer please tell me what district you're working out of. I will look up the phone # myself and tell me your name, badge number and the extension where I can contact you at. If everything checks out I'll be happy to tell you what you want to know (which would of been nothing BTW). If you're using a cell phone fine, just tell me when I can call you when you're in the office. If you can't do this I'll have no choice but to assume you're playing a con game." Then I would add, "If it doesn't check out, I'll give the police your cell number and tell them you're pretending to be a LEO".

Best to establish who you're actually talking to is real or not.

Look it is possible Uncle LEO got his hands on a lady's working cell phone and they are fishing trying to find a guy that does this kind of thing with girls. I don't really have a problem with that.

Thanks everyone

I’m assuming he was trying to get me to say something. Then say we have you on tape give us X$ or we’re going to expose you.

I caught on quick enough to insist on coming in to verify legitimacy.

A lot of stuff doesn’t make send in hindsight.

If she was real, why would they give me her name?

It wouldn’t be her personal phone, it would be whoever is forcing her to do this’ phone

They would certainly already know the websites she used

It’s just very unsettling that there are these kinds of scams out there

Not for nothing, but "683-" IS a valid city number. If it was the warrants unit (Sherriff's Dept), they very well may have had an outstanding warrant on the provider you called, or her "manager", and were just trying to get info on how to scoop him/her up.

Google only brings up a bogus website and Facebook page does that number. 1401 Arch isn’t court offices anymore. The warrant office is sheriff not PPD. If they really wanted info why would they not allow me to do the interview in person. Doesn’t add up

The other thing to consider is with all the robo calling and phone hacking going on, it brings validity back the ancient strategy of deny, deny, deny...deny until you die!
