As a bleeding heart liberal if there was any evidence that shutting down these shops lead to less human trafficking and/or a better life for the women involved I would support them even if it meant personally I would not have as much fun.

However that is not the case, these raids are just the cheapest form of political theater. It's not like they are going to help these women get jobs or support their families or provide them with healthcare. And it's not like you take all the AMPs out of Jackson Heights and suddenly the crime and poverty in JH will suddenly be gone.

This is all for show, and I would be okay with it even as harmless theater but they really arrest these women and it really has an impact on their lives. Year ago the police did a raid in Flushing and it lead to the death of a massage worker some say suicide some say the police murdered her, regardless she died a rather horrible death.

And after her death the City said they would stop doing those raids... but here we go again, because "who cares, it's totally fair game to screw with their lives to score a few more votes, these aren't even people they're just props... so what if some massage worker died in a raid, who even cares if some nameless sex worker died in a raid years ago."

Well her name was Yang Song, she went by CiCi, she was my friend, and I care very much

Yep. And they were asking for it. I understand wanting to do a little street advertising but being THAT obvious in broad daylight is just begging to get shut down.

The new Latina migrants may not know any better and think that it's all good but the mamasans should have known better. How does the saying go about greed? Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. An establishment with one girl outside can survive. An establishment with 6 or 7 scantily clad workers milling outside physically pulling men inside is probably already under surveillance.

The crazy thing is that I hadn't been on Roosie in a while and I was actually going to head down in the late morning. I would have been face to face with the mayor of NYC and half a dozen local news cameras. Bullet dodged and lesson learned. Real bad boys move in silence.
I still would of walked there with a hard on Like a real alpha

Maybe don't mention it on boards like this for starters lol. Since I'm sure we are being monitored.

Nancy’s problem to me is that they keep signs up. I'm sure they get innocent grandma's and aloof middle aged ladies knocking looking for legit massage or treatement not realizing what is going on.
We already hashed out that theory in the Spa Hunter days... None of this is admissable to get a warrant.

The number one way to get a search and shut down warrant:

Middle Aged Mommies with children aged 6-12 complaining to their city council representative.

And now with Facebook groups compared to 10 years ago I guarantee they have sent authorities more footage than the "Calle Roosevelt Chica Chica" guy on Tik Tok has ever uploaded.

You'd think they would've learned their lesson just a few months ago when swat was down there, but that didn't happen either. At the end of the day, they had a favorable political environment to conduct their business, but commonsense was nowhere to be found with these people. The loitering and marketing tactics they used was just plain greed and stupid. I'll give it to the here and there latina spots, they kept things as discreet as possible, even in the dress code. Back in the day, and as I've posted here, we're talking 90's, the only person you ever saw outside was some random dude passing out a card or taking you to the door.........that was all done discreetly and they knew more or less who to say "Chicas" to and who not. Some spots on Roosvelt Ave even had radio communication with the outside guy to prevent people from walking out when police were rolling by. No cell phones back then. What can I say, people had more commonsense in those times and you can't honestly blame the people who complained when all they had to do was restrict the hours and not make it that freaking obvious.

Honestly, CANT feel sorry for these people. All they had to do was practice a LITTLE restraint/discretion.

Any adult NY’ker knows that a “massage” in such an area is bound to include “extras.” NO need for additional “marketing.”

Gotta feel for the general community, esp. the women and children, who had to walk by such “displays” daily.

Hopefully, this wiil teach the RIGHT lesson (keep it on the “down low,” stupid), and allow us to achieve the equanimity in the community we ALL desire. :)(y)

Legalize it with health checks like other countries and the exploitation stops as does the spread of disease. Less money needed for LE and more tax revenues and lower cost to consumers. In Germany, you can find legal beauties for 30 Euros.

I agree 100 %. Roosevelt Avenue has been the go to place for shady stuff as far back as I can remember. I’m almost 70 and I can remember going there to get a fake ID when I was in high school. The key was discretion. You knew a guy who new a guy etc… Today discretion has been replaced by greed. Anyone with common sense knows in todays environment you can’t walk 2 blocks without being on someone’s camera. And you certainly don’t need half naked women calling out massage to every guy that walks by these shops. That’s what happens when there are too many of these places operating in a small area. They are competing for customers in an anything goes way. I’m all in for the underground and OTR scene but once it’s out in the open like this it’s just a recipe for disaster.
