brings us back to the whole education thing. like i said before all comes down to whether or not you are willing to do what it takes to support your family and childrens education instead of complaining and asking for handouts.

How about the racism that Asians face in education where they need to score hundreds of points higher than Blacks to maybe get into good colleges. Not there fault that there parents require them to work hard in school while other races don't. Look what California is trying to pull throwing Asians under the bus in the name of equality for Blacks.

I remember when I was younger (last 60, 70, early 80s), the "consensus" seemed to be that racism was all about skin color. Basically, if you were not White, you were at a big disadvantage. Well, the success of the East and South Asians certainly gave lie to that one. South Asians especially, as some of those have black skin, just like African Americans. Now the argument has shifted that racism is due to the legacy of slavery and Jim Crow. Perhaps, but I don't remember hearing that argument until the late 80s or so.

I've seen non-White immigrants get abused and made fun of. It's not so prevalent today, but it was very prevalent when I was in high school and even college. I have also had non-White immigrant friends & colleagues tell me the same thing (with many of those stories being more recent). But that treatment did not stand in the way of their success. And, BTW, the harassment they got came from both Whites and AAs.

Personally, I am not so worried about Whites and Asians not being able to get into good colleges. Anyway who really wants an education will find a way to get one. It is all about effort and attitude. You can get an excellent education at a bottom tier school. You can also get a crap education at a top tier school. I've seen examples of both of those. The big advantages of an "Elite" school are the contacts you make and a leg up on your first job. But, after your first job, it's all about your ability. Nothing is more pathetic than a guy in his mid 30s trying to get a job almost solely on the basis that he went to Princeton. And recruiters are not stupid. Even from an elite school, they can still separate the wheat from the chaff.

any past nyc mayors or school chancellors ever tried to diversified stuyvesant hs when it was all white students back then? why now?
asian kids earned those elite hs seats because asian kids go to tutoring after school, weekend school, summer school and self study at home while other non asian kids play in the park, go to disney world, camping and other non school activities.
america is a land of opportunity but it will not handed to you. you have to go out and get it by working hard.

Racism is the curse of the United States and I think racism will be the fall of the United States. It all started when how the Europeans treated the Native Americans, especially when the United States expanded from East to West.

Have you been to other countries? Many countries?
The reality is racism if very prevelant in virtually all, if not all countries. Some people hide it better and are less vocal and angry, but it's there.

I think it's a human condition.
So you deal with it.
Continuing to show respect and humility wins over many people. The rest are assholes so fuck em. If it's too much you leave. The current pechulant PC people see things thru an unrealistic, naive ideology. And why is the rest of the world going along with it?
As usual, it's money.

Asians are not imune to getting screwed over like all races have been and it's just as awful. Look what they did to the Japanese in SF.
On and on.

I think Japan is the promised land! Go if you haven't been.
... And they have cute girls.
Sorry about the disjointed rant.

Japan has a lot of cute providers. But they are far from being the most inclusive. The majority is still very xenophobic and wants Japan for Japanese only. They have opened up a little recently only because of population decline, and there just aren't enough native Japanese people to fill all the jobs. Just take a look at what it takes to be a citizen, and you'll see. Maybe in another decade it would be more inclusive.

In the long run Japan is smart for staying Japanese. Many European countries are going to be very sorry for their immigration policies in a few decades, and some probably already are. As far as population decline, one would hope that its cyclic. That is, once things get less crowded and cheaper, people feel like having kids again. Having watched a lot of Japanese porn, I think the Japanese have some traits that make them very, very odd.

Another, darker possibility is that there is something about prosperous, technically advanced societies that discourages human procreation. Personally, I hope this is not the case, but I fear that it is. It could well be that we are not sufficiently evolved to mentally cope with the technology we are creating. Or maybe great prosperity does something to short circuit basic reproductive instincts. Social media in particular seems to make people crazy. Per Darwinism, this should change through adaptation, but maybe the rapid pace of innovation will foil that We may learn the hard way that many of our gee-whiz inventions have really bad, unforeseen consequences. The Mouse Utopia experiments of the 60s/70s hinted at that. One would think we'd be more adaptable than mice, but who really knows.

- Agree 100% on this point. And it's not just European countries that are/will be sorry. It's the USA, too.

- I am sure there are many opinions for the reason on abnormally low birthrates among advanced, first world peoples. And many other societal problems as well. But for me, it is crystal clear. Feminism. Or to be more direct, the fact that Western males allowed the rise of feminism. And it's becoming more prevalent in East Asia as well.

I think we are going to find out the hard way that multicultural societies don't work so well. Historically, they really don't have a good track record. The US worked well when we were had a "melting pot" mentality. Once we moved away from that, things started getting ugly. Unfortunately, its going to get a whole lot worse before it gets better. Popular culture sold itself on diversity decades ago with zero evidence of its benefits.

I agree. But I also think that advanced technology & prosperity facilitate feminism. The more primitive a society, the more prevalent traditional sex roles. I also think feminism makes a lot of women (and men) absolutely miserable. But the problem is that living in a primitive society is pretty miserable too.

Just because humans CAN do something does not mean we ought to.

Interesting in that every mass migration in the US got shown the unwelcome mat to start that "melting pot" process. 1850's was the period of "No Irish". Turn of the 20th Century saw "No Italians" and "No Jews". Heck of a "melting pot" process there when you consider they are now all considered "White".
