STDs from BBJ

I was pretty concerned about this when I started out, especially as the CDC site lists a lot of STD risks from BBBJs. However, they don't specify probabilities for a given STD (other than that there is almost no risk of HIV) from BBBJs. I consulted a public health expert on STDs who suggested to me that contracting an STD from a BBBJ is generally pretty low risk. The greatest risk is Chlamydia, which is easily treatable - a single dose of azithromycin. Gonorrhea is most risky when there is contact with the throat, as the infection thrives there more than in the mouth. So deep throating increases that risk (though I think a lot of people with smaller than average dicks conflate deep throating with getting it all the way in the recipient's mouth). Gonorrhea is generally also easily treatable (unless one catches an antibiotic resistant strain, but those are rare, especially on the East Coast). Genital herpes is a risk, but with that you mostly need to make sure to avoid BBBJs if you see any sores on the provider's mouth.

So how about the alcohol / Listerine treatment? Actually helpful or just unpleasant and leading to a false sense of security?
I don't know of any clinical evidence that shows that these are effective as preventatives or treatments. Which is not to say with certainty that they may not help. But for those who use these methods and don't catch anything, that doesn't demonstrate that they are effective, since we can't know the counterfactual. I've had BBBJs from many different women, never used these methods, and never caught anything.

Since a majority of the STDs are bacterial based I believe that alcohol spray is effective because 75% alcohol spray kills bacteria. Also washing with hot water and soap can be effective as well. Strictly my opinion based on reading so take it for what it is.
I take a shower right after lol. Can’t be too careful

If a provider has HSV-1 (the herpes variant that causes cold sores), you can get genital herpes from BBBJ if you don't already have HSV-1. About half of all genital herpes infections are HSV-1 through oral sex. However, more than half the population already has HSV-1. If you already have it, you can't catch it again. You can get infected even if there is no visible cold sore. With a cold sore, the risk of infection is almost 100%, but even without a cold sore there is virus present about 20% of days.

Risk for the other STDs is minimal from BBBJ.

You can get a vaccination for Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B, and HPV, and anyone involved in this hobby probably should. Hepatitis is not typically transmitted through BBBJ, but rather through sex, but it is incurable and there's no reason not the get vaccinated.
