FEEDBACK REQUESTED: New York Forum Layout

Hey everyone,

Need your feedback. Have a look at the new New York forum layout. Does it need any additional tweaks? Any big segment of our community left out? The idea here is to maximize the user experience for our New York members, so if you have suggestions that would help accomplish that further please share. (I'm not talking about new features or anything like that....just the forum layout specifically). For example, when I polled users about forums in the general discussion section, I got a lot of feedback about NY in DMs. What I've set up incorporates 99% of everything requested, but here's a conflict which arose in the suggestions. Some felt Flushing should just be done away with and all that go into a Queens section. Others felt Flushing was deserving of it's own forum with it being the AMP capital of the USA and all....

So, let's hash it out. What are your thoughts? Are we good as is? Any additional private forums needed?

Thank you TJ for taking the time to set up all the new forums. Honestly, everything looks great so far. I know some members mentioned having a section for the Bronx and upstate, is that still in the works?

Edit: I scrolled over and missed the Hudson Valley section. Perfect for when I head upstate later in the year.

Kudos! Love what you’re doing in NY and California. Now reviewers may need some training/reminders to enter their reviews/discussions in the right forums without you being driven crazy when entries are made in the wrong places. Thanks!

And why not pin this so everyone sees it at the top?

Wow this is great!!
Definitely a big thanks to you and your team for putting together this new format.

I agree with flushing being by itself separate from Queens and I second the motion of Westchester and Fairfield Connecticut being separate from Hudson Valley as they are kind of two completely different things. Hudson Valley is considered much further upstate

imho, westchester, which includes yonkers, should not be part of hudson valley. Connecticut not part of westchester or any other NY county.
respectful opinion mr. tj.

Generally agree with this but how do you define "Flushing"? My general view is that any location from Prince/Main Street/Citi Field is the starting point of Flushing, and moving eastward, generally ends right around 201th Street & Northern Blvd or so. Auburndale area is right at the border of Flushing and Bayside. Though even more confusing is that while you can address Bayside on an envelope, it's still considered (Eastern) Flushing to some.

Eastern Queens is Bayside, Douglaston, and Little Neck. Great Neck is generally the first town in Nassau County/Long Island.

I would vote for separate Nassau County & Suffolk County, as this is a huge geographical area that requires more than a 2 hour drive from the start of Nassau County until the eastern tip of Long Island in Suffolk County.

Does Connecticut have enough to warrant it's own forum, separate from New York? Happy to go either way, but which makes most sense and which makes it easiest for members to get the intel they need with the fewest clicks?
And yes, Connecticut should have its own section...there's quite a few reviews and spots in Stamford, Hartford, the casinos areas, and other locations.

The new layout is great and greatly appreciated. Great to see a westchester and a separate Hudson valley section. Same for flushing and queens.
its up to reviewers to make sure they’re posting in the right spot. For example, right now there are two reviews in the Hudson valley. One for Yonkers which should be in westchester and another in the city of “Google”

Adding to previous reply, If the search engine could filter by state, region, town, borough, etc. that may help. I know there is the advanced filter option but yeah

I think that Fairfield County should be lumped into Westchester to make it Westchester/Fairfield Counties because there would probably be crossover of Hudson Valley and Westchester
