For the uninitiated, the fire dept, mta, and even postal service have police units. Typically an arrest for our hobby would come from the NYPD, although they can detain or arrest people who are violating the law. FDNY have badges for fd police and regular firefighters

FDNY Fire Marshals are armed and have full police powers, meaning they can arrest you for things not related to arson and the like.

Firefighters are not typically extended any special statutory arrest authority although there are at least three notable exceptions to this. Most departments have a division responsible for code enforcement and fire investigations. ... They will often have the authority to issue citations and make arrests.

Not for prostitution only for the ordinances listed above . Code enforcement and fire violations .
