When I nearly got arrested at an AMP in Pennsylvania (it was raided for trafficking suspicions), the cops told me this: "If we determine that the masseuse who was in the room with you was trafficked, we're going to arrest you for trafficking. Just because you did not know she was trafficked does not mean we won't charge you with it."
Yeah, getting charged with trafficking just for getting a massage would be a travesty of justice. But, unfortunately, prosecutors get promoted based on the number and import of the busts, not on fairness. Also, if a bust occurred, I wouldn't put it past some of these AMP girls to claim they were trafficked to save their own necks and get sympathy & help instead of a sentence. Regardless of your relationship (or tip amount), if it's them or you, then you are the one who is going down.
A r/t girl I frequent and have gotten to know well tells me she has to pay her father each month, go figure. It take it to mean she sends support money to her dad, I don't question her about it.
I know many AMP girls who are married and are the primary bread winner for their families. Their husbands send them out to work for weeks on end and do nothing. There was one heartbreaking case where a girl's husband would gamble away her $$ as soon as she brought it home. But they endure it out of a sense of family honor (which I guess trumps other virtues, like fidelity and generally not being a whore). It's definitely a different mindset than what you find in Western women. If there was any justice, their husbands would be prosecuted for trafficking or pimping.
