Anything a man can do to minimize risk?…
Maybe not to minimize the risk, rather to limit the damage:

Keep your phone in your car and park your car nearby, in an ordinary lot, preferably a place you have patronized and have both a receipt to prove it and a plausible reason to be there. Your phone whether it’s your special hobby phone or not might log your reservation call to the spa under investigation. You don’t want that. I never call ahead. Must be a bunch more ways to provide your attorney material to work with.

When I found myself in the middle of a police raid at an AMP, I avoided arrest, but the police made several threats to me that they would call my wife from the AMP to let her know I was okay or if I needed a ride home from her.

They were prepared to do so from my cell phone, which they seized from me.
Was your phone unlocked?

And even if it was, they should not have accessed information/data...they were not in any immediate danger....the Supreme Court has ruled 9-0 on 2 cases in which they found that police generally may not, without a warrant, search digital information on a cell phone seized from an individual who has been arrested.

This was probably before those decisions, very true.

We also have to consider that when you're in an AMP having just put your briefs on before they broke down the door, you're at a disadvantage because you want to get the hell out of there withing being arrested. And they know this and they will subject you to verbal abuse, which is what happened to me.

They moved the masseuse out of the room and denied me the chance to put my clothes on. They went through my wallet and my phone. They told me if my "story" does not match up to what they masseuse said, they would arrest me.

Also, in the state where this occurred, the police officers indicated that just because I did not know if any of the women at this place were being trafficked was no defense to a trafficking charge. As the cop said to me, we'll charge you with charge with trafficking and let the courts decide on it.

This shit is rough tactics and they will do it.

I encourage readers to listen to what some of us said with advices and experiences even though some of us are not attorneys. Take njlefty’s experience as an awareness. Do not be big shots assuming the leo cant do this and that. The us sup court defended our rights in terms of search recently. However, the leo and/or da can and will find loopholes somewhere.

In these situations, you are only required to ID yourself. If you sense things are getting rough, then my advice is to ask for an attorney and say nothing further. It becomes a mess, but remember, they're not raiding the AMP because they want to drop off PBA booster stickers.

I am sure LE searches digital data if a phone is unlocked. Yes, it violates the SC ruling but they will plead ignorance and nothing will happen to them. I always brought my phone in but may now keep it in the car, and erase the phone call and map destination first. I agree with some of the good ideas, like say you took uber.

I always leave my phone and wallet in the car locked and just bring in cash that I'm willing to spend. I got a scare a few months ago while at an AMP. I had just finished a session and was getting dressed. The provider had left the room and was throwing paper towels away. All of a sudden I hear commotion outside the door to the room. I look outside and my provider was dressed in sweat pants and a sweatshirt. Two other providers were also fully dressed also. She pushes me back in the room and says that LE is outside knocking on the door. I start to panic, I put my shoes on and realize I'm stuck. I hear the doorbell ring numerous times and knocking at the door. My provider is on the phone talking frantically in Chinese to what I assume is the owner who was not there. I'm contemplating know my life choices now, I'm I going to be questioned, does this get posted in the newspaper, etc. All the lights were fully on and as I look at the providers, I fully realize now that all of them are in their 50's. How do I explain this hobby? Well after 10 minutes or so (it seemed like an hour) LE left. I waited another 5 minutes and got the hell out of dodge. Of course I called back 3 weeks later to see if they were still open and sure enough, my provider tells me to come in. When I got there, I drove around the parking lot expecting an unmarked vehicle or something around (my paranoia). I go inside and ask about what happened last time I was there and the provider said, oh they just came back later after lunch. They wanted to check and see if we were providing any extra services. They had put up a sign saying "No sexual services offered." I guess it must have been local LE checking for licenses. The only good thing that came out of this was I never paid for my visit because during the commotion that was the last thing either of us were thinking.

The raid I was at, they rang the bell once and started pounding on the door yelling POLICE! I could hear all of the commotion, but they did not wait more than a minute. After a minute, they broke the door in and that was it.

I still have issues at AMPs with unexpected noises after this episode. One time the mamasan must have dropped a frying pan and I nearly jumped out the window.

Ever notice how some towns , like Passaic, have about 18 SPAS , while towns like Wayne or Ridgewood they are as rare as hens teeth. If the law cracked down and closed all 18 SPAS in Passaic there would be a financial crisis in town , the buildings would be vacant depriving landlords of rent money and further adding to the huge number of already vacant store fronts.
Cops would be laid off and the town would sink further into decay. The administration and the cops in town all know what's going on , but it's always about money and jobs ........ and they all realize .......NEVER bite the hands that feed you.

I think the postings about LE activity is informative. Hearing what happened to Lefty is disturbing There have been more than a few massage parlors I have visited over the years that have had visits from LE. Julies Spa, New Life Spa, Stressless Sessions in Trenton, 35 Spa, a parlor on Lafayette Street in Trenton, another place in Matawan, etc. After raids some places just re-open others close. Luckily I have never been at a massage parlor when LE came knocking but it is very unsettling to know I have been to places that have had LE raids. There are some towns that seem "safer" than others. Who knows why? I have stated this before but East Brunswick seems to have its share of massage parlors. I lived in EB for 7 years. LE seemed tough and no-nonsense, even with minor traffic violations. I avoid EB. The towns in western Monmouth county like Marlboro, Manalapan, Freehold Boro, Freehold Township and Howell are not exactly spa friendly towns. If you go to NJ.com and just do a simple search of massage parlors, numerous articles on raids come up.

I agree this thread is very helpful and informative. I've also found the varying approach by different towns fascinating. Years ago West Windsor was a hobby friendly locale but one day nearly all the Asian places were raided and shut and the others all moved out when the town passed an ordinance about licensing. I agree about East Brunswick, LE there seems very unforgiving yet several places manage to remain in business over the years. I also wouldn't visit there for fear of LE activity.

If you go to legit places you have nothing to worry about, try it, you may like it.
Koujiao please consider those gentleman who are old, physically obese or suffer from emotional issues and cannot procure sex from hot young females. There only recourse is to frequent the F.S. emporiums ........why deny them that pleasure?

I completely beg to differ. As I said earlier, don’t be a big shot.
I stick with my position. Which part do you disagree with, 'nothing to worry about' or 'you may like it'?

I take it the places I go to are apparently not of the same caliber as the places you go to, in the 30 plus years I have been involved, none of the massage parlors I have been to were closed for offering sexual favors.

So stop trying to pretend you know it all. Your past suggestions that you have secret knowledge is an obvious attempt to inflate your status and is silly.

Jim, I'm not in the position of denying anyone anything, they are free to do what they wish, I am sharing my opinion. Which is different an most.
